HAW and United for Peace and Justice

From its beginnings, HAW has been a member of United for Peace and Justice (UfPJ), the coalition that, among many other activities, sponsored the gigantic antiwar demonstrations in NYC and SF on February 15 and 16. UfPJ held its first national conference on June 6-8 in Chicago, and 550 people, representing 325 local, regional, and national organizations, attended. The conference had its flaws, but I represented, in the opinion of many, a big step forward; for more information, check the UfPJ web site at http://www.unitedforpeace.org/index.php. HAW co-chairs Van Gosse and Andor Skotnes participated as HAW delegates, and HAW, with Van as our representative, was elected to the 35-member UfPJ steering committee. More discussion of what this means for HAW’s future plans needs to happen.
